TENDING THE VEIL

Gleann Amain, Scotland

September 13-20, 2026

A Grounding Down Retreat experience

A 7-day retreat in the Scottish Highlands. Connect with the land, your body, and the ancient rhythms of slowing down.

Rachel’s Farm,

Gleann Amain  (Glenamond)

Nestled near the Scottish Highlands, a land of ancient castles and misty lochs, our retreat is an escape to lands alive and older than time.

Rachel’s Farmhouse is located in Glenalmond, known as the gateway to the Highlands. Just one hour north of Edinburgh, it allows easeful travel and proximal access to some of the most stunning and rugged landscapes in Scotland.

Something is awaiting you in Scotland.

You wake beneath soft fluffy blankets, fog tendrils licking the windows of your bedroom.

Mist drifts through the glen as morning light crests the hills.

Somewhere downstairs, coffee is brewing. Eggs are sizzling, and you can hear laughter coming from the yoga patio.

It's your first morning in Scotland.

You've been imagining this moment for months, debated on how to justify the time, organize the flights, budget the money, and almost talked yourself out of the whole journey here.

But something about this trip asked you to trust yourself.

And now, you're here.

On Grounding Down retreats, mornings might start slowly. With hot coffee in hand as you nest by the cackling hearth in the living room. Perhaps you woke up early to stretch on your mat overlooking the Highland glen. Other mornings might lead you into moss-covered forests, across a windswept moors, and wild swimming in an ancient loch.

There is no right way to experience this place.

Nothing here asks you to perform wellness or become a different version of yourself. There are no gold stars for being the most adventurous, the most spiritual, or the most productive. In fact, we hope you leave your entire “metric” framework at the airport gate!

But we do expect that you'll laugh more than normal. That you’ll dance outside your comfort zone to the beat of a Ceilidh, sip whisky almost as old as you are, or find yourself unexpectedly quiet with your journal, watching the moon rise over the creeks.

This retreat isn't about becoming someone new. It’s about tending the most inner part of yourself that has gone too long without a proper watering.

Tending the Veil is an invitation to return to your own rhythm.

We can't wait to welcome you.

We are thrilled to be partnering with Andy the Highlander for our guided experiences through the Scottish Highlands.

Known for his storytelling, humor, and deep love of his homeland, Andy carries the living spirit of the Highlands in his voice and heart. A featured actor in Outlander and devoted student of Jacobite history, he brings Scotland’s wild beauty and ancient lore to life. Andy is passionate in guiding travelers through Scotland’s Misted glens, stone circles, Viking ruins, whiskey distilleries, and ancient landscapes rich with myth and memory.

Your retreat with us includes guided hikes through the Highlands, and a day trip to the historical city of Perth.

GUIDED EXCURSIONS

WHISKY TASTING

(A wee dram!)

A private whisky tasting experience.

One of our evenings will be devoted to a guided Scottish whisky tasting, led by local experts who embody the artistry of this time-honored craft.

You’ll explore the spirit’s origins and evolution across Scotland’s five distinct regions, Highland malts, Speyside whiskies, Islay malts, Lowland whiskies, and Campbeltown expressions, as well as the nuanced beauty of blended Scotch.

Not a whisky person? Think again ;)

This tasting is more than education. It’s an immersion in history, place, and palate. You’ll learn each step of the whisky-making process, from grain to glass, and understand how climate, soil, and tradition shape every pour.

Together, we’ll sip slowly, savor the layers of peat smoke, and unravel the story each sip holds.

TRADITIONAL

CEILIDH DANCING

At Grounding Down, we hold deep respect for the cultural roots of every tradition we share. We are mindful of how indigenous and ancestral practices have been commodified through global tourism, and we approach each experience with care and reciprocity.

In that spirit, we are honored to partner with Rachel’s Farm to offer an evening of traditional Ceilidh dancing; a joyful Scottish folk dance that celebrates community, rhythm, and belonging.

This retreat honors our shared connection to the land and the living traditions that emerge from it. The honoring of its original dances allows us to share the richness of Scotland’s living traditions with reverence and authenticity.
