Alyssa Gunn Maldonado fund

Alyssa Gunn Maldonado, 1986-2021

In loving memory of our comadre, chingona, and dear friend. A cherished advocate for equity, justice, and healing, we proudly introduce the Alyssa Gunn Maldonado Fund.

Alyssa's vibrant spirit and unwavering dedication to promoting BIPOC representation in healing spaces, birth, and empowerment continues to inspire us at Grounding Down every day.

Alyssa was a space holder, birth keeper, brilliant yoga teacher, hand weaver, and true friend, rain or shine. She and I walked on the path of the Red Road indigenous medicine together before her brilliant life was cut short.

When Alyssa was taken from us, the very soul of Denver changed. Her impact was far, wide, and deep. I’m certainly not the only one that navigated grief well into the months and years following her passing.

Alyssa and I taught yoga together in the same community for years, and even had dreams to go into business together one day. She always inspired me to stand steadfast in my values, to not waiver, and never ever give away my power. I think she taught this to everyone who was close to her.

Her journey as a yoga practitioner and instructor was deeply intertwined with her mission to create positive change in the world. As a Xicana Mexican woman and true Aquarius, she embodied the principles of compassion, community, and betterment for our community.

The Alyssa Gunn Maldonado Fund is a testament to Alyssa's dedication to empowering BIPOC individuals.

Your support will provide aspiring entrepreneurs and change-makers from marginalized communities with the opportunity to access education inside Grounding Down’s healing and cultural excavation programs: including the transformative "Be A Better Ancestor" course, our biannual wellness retreats, and empowering wellness workshops.

May our work honor Alyssa's life, and her vision of equity, justice, and healing for our community.

Tlazocamati- Thank you for your support.
