Be A Better Ancestor
A journey between you, your ancestors and the origins of your own deep medicine.

Be A Better Ancestor (BABA) is a 4 month course dedicated to ancestral remembrance, root excavation, honing psychic/somatic abilities, and mindfully working with intergenerational patterning.
Through the lenses of community care, 1:1 support, cultural research, ceremonial reverence, and deep personal introspection, this space will be a remarkable opportunity for you to dig deep into your roots and draw up your ancestral medicine.

Curious if this space is for you? Here are a few reasons you may be a great fit for BABA:
You are on a journey of self love, self observation, and self inquiry
You’re a BIPOC healer interested in broadening your toolkit for yourself & your community
You’re a white ally with pre-existing investment in the DEI realm
You want to walk in a good way with your ancestors, existing family, and yourself
You are inspired by the idea of connecting to your roots
You can manage your own energy and emotions in group settings
You are getting a lot of “hints” to connect with your ancestors
You are ready to detangle some of the wounds tied to colonialism i.e. imposter syndrome, toxic capitalist productivity, martyrdom, and doing it all on your own.
Piyali!
I’m Morgan- your guide and facilitator through this experience. This will be my 6th iteration of Be A Better Ancestor, and I can’t wait offer this more in-person style of community healing. I am a 3rd generation Xicana American, Curanderismo practitioner, Perinatal Wisdom Consultant, Birth doula, and experienced yoga instructor of 10 years. I am thrilled to co-create this space with you. You can read a bit more about my background here.

What you’ll learn and receive
MODULE 1- self
We begin our journey by diving into YOU. Your center, your source, your nectar. I support you as we reflect on what brought you to ancestral work, what your relationship with your self is like, and what ancestral knots you're consciously ready to untangle.
MODULE 2- existing ancestors
Together we map out your ancestral tree, as far as we can go. You will observe any "loops" or patterns of trauma, circumstance, outside influences, immigration, enslavement, genocide, intersects of race & capitalism, and colonialism.
MODULE 3- ancestral mediumship + spiritual hygiene for community care
We will enter into a deep co-mediation where we practice safe channeling of your ancestors, and learn to discern the difference between body wisdom and pings from your ancestors and guides. The intent is to safely teach you this skill so you can do this on your own after the program.
MODULE 4- guest presenters
I always supplement this course with experts that can help expand your perspective of ancestral work, decolonizing yourself for optimal psychosomatic healing, and tap into invisible realms of energy. Every cohort is different, but in the past we have hosted:
Dr. Lisa Martinez- Denver based Curanderismo practitioner
Eutimia Cruz Montoya- Hands on Holistic Wellness & TCM Doctor
Shannon Leigh O'Neil Loyola- Reiki Master & Akashic Healer
Nathalie Farfan- Decolonial Educator & Founder of Las Brujas Club
MODULE 5- ritual, ceremony, and honoring the ancestors
I support you in honoring your ancestors, their journey, and their work as it is expressed through your healing. Drawing from your unique cultural background, we explore the many ways to build an altar space, establish devotional rituals, and create space for the sacred in your life.
MODULE 6- social justice & ancestral legacy
This week we get real on reindigenizing wellness practices, talk about a handful of the many intersects of social justice + ancestral healing, and develop personalized ways to start honoring your unique earth walk as it pertains to your ancestry.
MODULE 7- Keeping the ancestral fires
In the closing module we reflect as a cohort on the work that has been accomplished, the healing that is taking place, and how to carry on this work into your future and for all your progeny.
You will also gain:
Biweekly 1:1 private calls with Morgan to checkin and gain personalized support
A working understanding of organ significance for spiritual healing through the lens of Ayurveda and Mexican Curanderismo
The body’s structural & visceral anatomy for optimal spiritual health
Accessible ways to start feeding your body and your lineage through simple and nourishing ancestral foods
Techniques for “listening” to your body and spirit
Life-long kinship and connection to the Grounding Down community with people on a similar path to you
Personalized support from Morgan so she can intimately walk with you on your ancestral healing journey.

FAQ + Client Expectations
Due to the nature of this work, all payments are final and we do not offer refunds.
The Grounding Down team is 100% self-employed and just like you, we have families to support, as well as instructors and guest speakers who need to be compensated, who are also supporting their families. We know BABA is a large investment, and our intention is to deliver on our promise every step of the way.
We prioritize working with people who want to contribute to the nurturance, safety, and communal learning that is Grounding Down’s signature promise.
It takes us much time and labor to ensure that we’re cultivating a safer space for healing and learning. This will be a protected space for radical unfolding.
You must be dedicated to critical thinking and self discernment. I ask that you respect my teachings and my role as your facilitator within this context.
Grounding Down welcomes varying opinions, backgrounds, and expertise in the scope of its work. All students have free reign to express their views and challenge existing ones. We ask that you do this in a respectful way that prioritizes empathy, constructive critique, open mindedness, and maintaining confidentiality.
You must choose to honor the wisdom, body of knowledge and tools you learn within this container.
You must choose to honor this container, and help maintain this safer space for the community members through empathy, compassion, open mindedness, and confidentiality.
Breaking this code of conduct will result in your immediate release from the course and suspension from future Grounding Down courses and events.
If you do not feel 100% ready for this work, honor your instincts and come back when you are.
We know firsthand what it’s like to dive in before feeling fully supported, and we want to work with you when you’re in that regulated space. Ancestral work is underworld work, and it’s nothing to rush into. Take your time, we’re here when you’re ready.

Don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or inquiries you may have! We’re excited to host you!
See you in October :)
